Updating Micro.blog Cross-posting Settings to Blacksky
While cross-posting something I’d written with blacksky.community-specific instructions on switching to custom domains, I realized I hadn’t updated my cross-posting settings in Micro.blog to do that via the Blacksky PDS. I knew I would need to replace the Bluesky PDS and the app-specific password, since I’d just changed my Blacksky handle back to my custom domain.
To create the new app-specific password, I went to Settings > Privacy and security > App Passwords. Then I clicked the “+ Add App Password” button and named it MicroDotblog. I left the “Allow access to your direct messages” checkbox unchecked and pressed “Next >”. The app password generated, I saved in 1Password so I could use it later.
To update my cross-posting settings in Micro.blog, I went to Account, then clicked the “Edit Sources & Cross-posting” button under Feeds. Then I clicked the Disable button for my Bluesky account. Once I filled in the Blacksky PDS (blacksky.app), the new app-specific password, and my handle (genxjamerican.com), cross-posting was back.
